Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity Homes
Building decent, affordable housing is a cornerstone of Habitat for Humanity's mission. To ensure we keep this promise with our homeowners and the communities in which they live, our construction team uses the latest techniques and technologies in insulation, air sealing, ventilation, plumbing and electrical to minimize energy costs for the homeowner. The homes built by Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity are some of the most energy efficient homes in the state of Wisconsin - a significant accomplishment considering the homes are constructed primarily by volunteers.
In 2009, our team of construction volunteers built three homes in the greater Green Bay community under the leadership of our construction coordinator, Kathi Kampen. The three homes we built were the three most energy efficient homes built in our history. The home located at 916 S. Maple Avenue was our best house with an infiltration rating of 6.28%. The average Energy Star Home infiltration rate in the state of Wisconsin in 2009 was 15%. Our organization is very proud of the fact that our homes are about half of the state average. We achieved many great things in 2009 and will strive for futher improvements in our building techniques during the 2010 Build Season.
