Faith Based Opportunities
As a Christian housing ministry Habitat for Humanity maintains a unique relationship with churches and members of congregations. In many ways we serve as an extension of the Church. Many congregations support the work of Greater Green Bay Habitat through prayer, volunteering to help build homes, or providing support through house sponsorships.
Congregations that partner with Habitat generally find their involvement:
- Provides an opportunity to put faith into action– an exercise which always helps to strengthen congregational passion, unity, and community.
- Allows church leadership to model the biblical call to give ourselves away to the cause of Christ.
There are numerous ways for groups within your organization to become involved with a Habitat project including volunteering, fundraising, attending special events, participation in ceremonies and making or gathering house warming gifts for their Habitat family (e.g. bed quilts for each family member).
Faith-based coalitions of organizations sponsor homes by providing a combination of direct funding and volunteer labor.
On occasion, a group of churches come together to build a home in the Greater Green Bay area.
